This project was the focus for the Innovation Core course 'Innovation Teams - Design and Lead' in my final year of college. I acted as a leader along with my co-lead Tyler Semple for a team of seven students in the course. Our team worked with SyllabusZip and its founder, Sara Parks, throughout the course of three months. The primary objectives of the team were to conduct market research and analysis for the company and its software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, as well as prototype an updated website to host the service. By the end of the project, our team had:
Conducted a survey with more than a hundred responses from the target audience of students
Compiled that data into a comprehensive document with results and analysis
Prepared an extensive marketing plan for the company moving forward
Prototyped an improved company website based on survey results
This project was the focus for the Innovation Core course 'Innovation Teams - Research and Execute,' taken as a junior. In this group of five students, I worked to create models and animations in Blender to demonstrate a new outdoors product from our client and founder of the Bachelor of Innovation (BI) program, Dr. Terrance Boult under his company Colorado Original Sports (COS). Working directly with the founder of the BI program was an extraordinary opportunity to learn the workings of an innovative mind and apply our own learnings to his work. The primary objectives of the team were to model and animate one new product as well as draft patents for said product as well as another. By the end of the project, our team had:
Modeled a prototype of one new outdoors product from Colorado Original Sports
Created an animation using our prototype model to demonstrate how the product works and is used
Drafted provisional patents for two new outdoors products from Colorado Original Sports
This project was the focus for the Innovation Core course 'Innovation Teams - Analyze and Report,' taken as a sophomore. In this team of students, we worked with Shine Nation, a nonprofit organization in Colorado Springs, CO. Shine Nation's mission is to help underprivileged youth to learn and practice various arts, including music and theater. Our team worked closely with the organization's president Victoria Lipscomb and founder Abe Minzer, as well as secretary Alana Mitchell. The primary objectives of the team were market outreach and funding. By the end of the project, our team had:
Reached out to various local and national media groups for outreach and marketing possibilities
Compiled documents on the above groups as well as multiple others in the area
Drafted grant proposals to three companies to help secure funding for the program

This project was completed for the Innovation Core Course BLAW 2010 - Business and Intellectual Property Law in conjunction with teammates Mauricio Aquino, Christopher Casias, and Matthew Uhlar. The purpose of the course was to learn the laws and processes involved in the protection of intellectual property in business. The primary objective of the course was to practice and perform the process of creating and submitting a patent to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Our product for this patent was a combination device and software to learn American Sign Language (ASL) through hand gesture recognition. To view the patent draft, click the 'patent draft' button below. More information about this project and how our team learned the patent submission process through practice is available upon request.
